The Prophetic Ministry in Biblical Perspective

simand The Biblical Perspective of Entering A Prophetic Ministry

The prophetic ministry is one of the five fold ministries. Eph 4:11 And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers.

A Call For All

Every born-again child of God has a ministry. There is no graceless Christian. The prophetic ministry is not for few individuals but it is for many. all sons and your daughter of Christ are to prophecy. On the Pentecost day, peter confirm the prophecy of Joel.

(Acts 2:16-18 but [instead] this is [the beginning of] what was spoken through the prophet Joel:  And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions ( divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams. Yes, and on My menservants also and on My maidservants in those days I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels and predicting future events pertaining especially to God’s kingdom].)

The Local Church And The Prophetic Ministry

Any man who is call into the prophetic ministry need to understand that prophets belongs to a local church. Unfortunately, many are not plugged into any local church. This need to change. It is one of the five-fold ministries in the local church.

Eph 4:12-13, record that  “His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church),  [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.”

Why Some Operate Outside The Church

One of the reasons why so many young prophets choose to operate outside the church is because many churches closed their doors to prophetic ministry. We need to change our perspective of biblical ministry in under become the church God want us to become. With understanding of their gifting, we can learn to benefit from their operation.  Prophets are not called by God to be outside the church, but have been given a foundation gifts to the church.

The Prophetic Ministry Is Call To Work

Col 4:17: And say to Archippus, “Be sure to carry out the ministry the Lord gave you.” (NLT).

Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the work you have received in the Lord.” (NIV

From the above passage, Colossians 4:17 in the NIV translation of the Bible, ministry means work. When we talk of ministry, we are talking about work, not a name, Paul usually introduce himself as Paul the Apostle and not Apostle Paul. This is because the call for apostleship is not a title, likewise the call into a prophetic ministry can never be in the title, it is in the assignment God has deposited into a man’s Hand. When we talk of prophetic ministry, we also not talking about structure or building. No matter how big structures you have, ministry is not a structure.

No matter how you name it, ministry is not a name. ministry is a work. You can have a big name and a big building but if God has not assigned you a task that you are doing, then you don’t have a ministry.

ministry is a task

Col 4:17: And tell Archippus, “Be sure to finish the task you were given in the Lord’s service.” (GNT).

The Goodnews-Bible call it the task. A task is an allocation of duty, with a beginning and a boundary. Ministry is a work, a task, an allotted task attaches to individuals. Everyone in the church has been attached a specific allocation of task and  A church can be very large, but it is very important to also note that every member has a particular allocation of task that is given to Him or Her. You task falls under the fivefold ministry. Nobody is spectator in the church of God. Everybody has a ministry. Nobody is an island. My prayer is that you will not spend your lifetime idling away.

Your Ministry is not another person ministry

Many are call into the prophetic Ministry but Your ministry is not what another prophet is doing and you join Him to do it.  but what God has told you to do. If you don’t know what the Lord want you to do, then you don’t know your ministry. If you are doing what you see others doing, then you are only doing another person’s ministry. So many people have left undone what they ought to do and they have done what they ought not to do. Ministry in the Biblical perspective is what God tells a man to do. It may not be the kind of things others are doing, it may be unknown, unpopular.

First Principle In Ministry

You need to start asking Yourself these question: what am I doing and who told me to do it? you may not be doing what God has call you to do if what you are doing is instigated by another prophet, your friends or you pastor in the church. When basic principles are mixed up, application is difficult. Mathematics is very simple as long as you know the first principle in every problem. You will not struggle in getting the answers. A student that find mathematics difficult are those who leave the principle and look for the answer. You cannot get correct answers in ministry when you don’t follow the principles. The first principle in ministry is to know the duty entrusted to you.

No Competition In Ministry

There is no competition in doing your ministry. No man can do those things which God has especially allotted to your name. no matter how many prophets we have in the church, they each have a specific duty that is unique and different from each other. That is why spiritual ministry is not competitive or comparative. Everyone has a specific task he only has receive grace to do. No matter how great a man is, he is not as great to do what has been allotted to me. You may be the general oversee of your church but no matter how anointed you are, you are not as anointed do what has been allotted to one who is call into the prophetic and that is just a member of your local church assembly.

Ministry Is Service

Ministry is a service and not a title. You are not anointed to own a title; you were anointed for service. Your service may be in the office of the prophet, but your anointing as a prophet is not for a title, but it is for service. Ministry is not a basis for pulling some group of loyalists around you. each man comes to contribute that which the Lord has put in His hand to do. Spiritual ministry is complementary. Paul’s assignment at Corinth was to plant. Apollos came and watered the seed. Biblical ministry is not personal ministry. No one man ministry is sufficient to carry out Gods work in this age. What you are doing can simply be a foundation to what another man is doing.

Ministry Is A Matter Of Doing

Biblical ministry is a matter of doing what God has told you to do. It is not necessary that you must be the one to begin and finish the work in someone’s life. It is only necessary that you finish your task. There is no graceless Christian. No Christian can say there is nothing to do. There is no a Christian that has not been endowed to make a positive contribution to the body of Christ. There is need to find out God purpose for your life. Pray and ask God to revealed unto you His purpose for life.
