The Lordship of Jesus Christ
The Lords of Jesus Christ is that of supreme power. Many have not come to the recognition of Jesus Christ for who He is. So many could not come to the knowledge of Him. This is the reason why so many have not come to accept the Lordship of Jesus because they are ignorant of who Jesus is. I pray that as you read, let your heart be open to understand and accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The prophet Isaiah prophetically talk about the Lordship of Christ in the old testament. He said:
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, b Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. (Isa 9:6-7)
Many only know Jesus for whom they think He is, but not for who He is. Jesus asked his disciples in Luke 9:18-20 “Who do the crowds say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago.
“Who do you say I am?” the Lordship of Christ!
Are you among the those who are looking at Jesus as one of the prophets of old? If yes, permit me to say that you are still yet to know and recognize the Lordship of Jesus Christ. In verse 20 of Luke chapter 9 he continues by saying “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” and Peter answered, saying “The Christ a of God.”
Rulers and government comes and go, generation comes and go but the Lordship of Jesus Christ is everlasting (2peter 1:11). There will be no end to the increase of his government. He rules over all.
Jesus is the image of the invisible God.
God is spirit and for God to make himself manifest to man, he has to carry a body. The Law of existence on earth is that you must carry a body in other to operate. A spirit cannot be seen and cannot function without a body. Evil spirit possesses men because they are useless outside a body. The only place to be relevant is to locate a body to stay. Jesus is God in human body.
Col 1:15-20: He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, but the things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him and He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Everything that has existed before and that which is existing now including you, comes through him. He is the creator of everything in heaven and on earth. Rom 11:36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
The Lordship of Christ and He asked, Lord show us the Father?
When Philip one of his disciple ask Him; Lord show us the Father? Jesus replies was this: “have I been with all of you, for so long a time and yet you don’t recognize and know me Philip? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you then say show us the Father?”.
The Gospel according to John 1:1-5 also state that: In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Jesus, and nothing was created except through His Lordship. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
John 1:14 : So the Word became human* and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. * And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
To summit to the Lordship of Christ, you need to understand his universal Lordship
- He is Lord and Christ (act 2:36)
- He has been given a name that is above every other name (Philippians 2:6-10) o, being in very nature a God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature b of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — n even death on a cross! Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
- He is the image of the invisible God (Colossian 1:15-17) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
- He is the universal and supreme head of the church: (Ephesians 1:22) and He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church],
Dear reader, Jesus is the word and that word is the word of God and the word is God himself. The word of God carries the nature of man to come and dwell on earth among men. He is more than a prophet, Because He is Christ and Lord. You need to summit to his lordship because you belong to him by creation.
