Seeking deliverance for acceptable living:
Deliverance is The action of being rescued or set free. Deliverance in the Bible is the acts of God whereby He rescues His people from peril. In the Old Testament, deliverance is focused primarily on God’s removal of those who are in the midst of trouble or danger. He rescues His people from their enemies (1 Samuel 17:37; 2 Kings 20:6), and from the hand of the wicked (Psalm 7:2; 17:13; 18:16-19; 59:2). He preserves them from famine (Psalm 33:19), death (Psalm 22:19-21), and the grave (Psalm 56:13; 86:13; Hosea 13:14). The most striking example of deliverance is the exodus from Egypt (Exodus 3:8; 6:6; 8:10). Here is God defined as the Deliverer of Israel who rescues His people, not because they deserve to be rescued, or are Seeking Deliverance but as an expression of His mercy and love (Psalm 51:1; 71:2; 86:13).
The first man (Adam) was lost from Gods presence by allowing Satan to be a master over his life and since then, man is no longer living to please God, but to please his new master. Man was totally lost and Seeking Deliverance. God send His Son Jesus to seek and to save that which was lost.
Luke 19:10: For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” NIV
Zacchaeus and the crowd
When Jesus was passing through Jericho, A man named Zacchaeus was there, but he could not see Jesus because of the crowd.
There are many people today that are sitting in Jericho with the purpose of seeing Jesus but the crowd is hindering them to go and see him. The crowd is a hindrance to vision. The crowd can be in any form but once it covers you, it will be a master over you and it will block you from seeing the reality that is in Christ Jesus, it will take you away from Gods presence.
The only way to see Jesus is to be a master over the crowd (sin) by not allowing it to control your life. (genesis 4:6-7: And the Lord said to Cain, Why are you angry? And why do you look sad and depressed and dejected? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.)
You have to run ahead and climb the three and you can only run by knowing the truth (john 8:31-36) then climb the tree above sin.
Seeking deliverance by knowing the truth
John 8:31-47: To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, andZacchaeus.” They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. I know you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are ready to kill me, because you have no room for my word. I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you do what you have heard from your father.
” Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do the things Abraham did. As it is, you are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. You are doing the things your own father does.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me.
Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
Let sin not be your master (romans 6:14a NIV)
Note that you have to seek for the deliverer in other to receive your deliverance.
When Zacchaeus has overcome the crowd, Jesus look up and said onto him “come down, I must stay in house today”. whenever a man overcome his crowd for this purpose of inviting Jesus Christ to his house, his invitation will be accepted even before his salvation will be pronounce.
Luke 19:8-10: But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (NIV)
Even though Christ was in the house of Zacchaeus his salvation was not pronounced until he hard made a proper restitution. You can only be recognized by God as his child after you have made a proper restitution.
Note that Christ will not pronounce your salvation until you make a proper restitution.
You may be contributing to the growth of the church Christ financially and by the word of wisdom, but if you have not made a proper restitution for your life, you will only be a borrowed vessel in the hand of God. You cannot be a child of God and still be living with the materials of the crowd. NO man can serve two master. I don’t know the material of the crowd that are still in your house, why not take them off today.
The choice that you will make in order to live an acceptable life after being delivered from the crowd is to do away with the materials of the crowd, it is a painful decision (Mathew 18:8-9: If your hand or your foot causes you to sin cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.)
