Pursuit of earthly Glory
The earthly glory is the value that the world place on man. The system of the world measures success and importance by the number of things a man has in the world. Pursuit of glory is the reason behind struggle you see in life. Joseph the was sold by His brothers as a slave to Egypt because of the Glory he claims through his dreams.
So you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that you have seen; and you shall hurry and bring my father down here.” (Gen 45:13)
The value place on a person is determined by how much the person has as a possession. The system of the world has set of standards and measures to pursue. The Pursuit of glory is the simple reason why so any parents impose the choice of career to their children. Parents want their children to become doctors, Lawyers and engineer. It looks like no parent will want his child to be a teacher. This is simply because of the earthly glory that is attach to the choice of career.
Christian attitude towards The Pursuit of glory
The glory of the earth is he simple reason why students engage in exam malpractice just to get a certificate that will qualified for a career. It is the reason why politicians embezzle money. the reason why people fight and kill one another. Pursuit of glory is the simple reason why the attitude of men toward church ministry has change.
People whom God have not call now call themselves into ministry. This is because they the church as a fast-growing money spanning business which is very attractive. The reason why they preach the way they do is because they are focusing on a glory. Their zeal is not for the pursuit for Christ but of an earthly glory. You will see minister releasing Christian musical Album, Christian books and will end up with a pursuit of glory. They will get discourage when their books did not sale.
The reason for constant falling and raising in the lives of many Christian comes as a result of the Pursuit of glory, chasing after an earthly Glory.
There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one-star differeth from another star in glory. (1 Cor 15:40-41)
The earth has its own Glory and it different from heavenly glory. The devils confront Jesus with Glory of the Kingdom of the earth.
Again, the devil took Him up on a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory (the splendor, magnificence, preeminence, and excellence) of them. And he said to Him, These things, all taken together, I will give You, if You will prostrate Yourself before me and do homage and worship me. (Matt 4:8-9)
The principle of the world system in Pursuit of glory
The earth has a magnificence glory but the principle of the world system is that you have to prostrate yourself to the world in other to get it. this has been the confused state of many Christians, we want the Glory but we can’t Bow to the world system.
The world system will not value as prominent if you have a very little possession. The world system has set a measure and standard to pursue. Those that are excited about the worldly glory spend their life, Time, income and investment to secure it. this is because have been captured and captivated by the glory of this world
The earth has a Glory but it is a passing, fading and temporary glory. Nothing about is permanent.
1 John 2:15-17 says “do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things] — these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself].
And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever.”
The glory of the earth is deceptive, it represents what is not real and lasting as the most valuable as it presents you with remedial solution to problem only to trick you into debt. Every treasure on earth is subject to decay.
Christian perspective to man’s Glory
And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness,* for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” (Luke 12:15NKJV)
And He said to them, Guard yourselves and keep free from all covetousness (the immoderate desire for wealth, the greedy longing to have more); for a man’s life does not consist in and is not derived from possessing f overflowing abundance or that which is g over and above his needs.
(Luke 12:15 AMP)
To a Christian, Life is not measured by what you have. He want his brother to give Him his right of inheritance was the reason he meet Jesus but Jesus point at what is Lacking in Him. His life should not depend on material things. He continues with a parable of the rich fool.
“A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”‘
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night.
Then who will get everything you worked for?’ “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
What he need for sustainability of resources is relationship with God. He said “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.
Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? “Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.
Why do you have so little faith? “And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.
The glory of God in a man completely swallow up all the Glories of the earth.
the focus of a Christian primarily is not on house, clothe or what to eat but in seeking His Kingdom and righteousness first and all other earthly glory will follow from behind. A Christian ought not to be distracted by the Glories of the earth because they will come by default as he continually seeks for His kingdom and righteousness. God supply grace which is a currency that is better and more glorious than Gold.
Christian should not be worried about the standard measured by the world
The earthly glory came to Joseph in the Land of Egypt from behind, His primary focus was to please God. A Christian should not be worried about the standard measured by the world because as a Christian, your life is not depending on it. the Life of a Christian is not subject to the currencies of the world. The Glory of praying and receiving answers to prayer is much more than having money. In the world system your money controls your purchase, you can not purchase above what you have. But receiving answers to prayer is far above your pocket. You purchasing Limit is God.
You can not pursue earthly Glory at the expense of you relationship with God and be a Christian.
Those who Pursue earthly Glory can not have a correct devotion to God. No man can serve two masters.
No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” (Luke 16:13)
In other to distract you, Satan will continually show you the Glory of the world that you will not see what God has prepared for you. the Glory of God will swallow up the Glory of the earth. when you focus on the Kingdom, all other things including money and golds are added advantages that comes from behind you.
Following Jesus for an earthly Glory
After feeding the five thousand, many follow Jesus for an earthly Glory. They went to Him but not for Him. Many come to Church because of prosperity message. Check your motive today and make sure that your motive is right. After Jesus reveal to them the motive of their heart, their next response was to try to spiritualize the conversation in John 6:28 “then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”. but God knows the Heart of all. he knows who are His true worshipers.
O Lord give me grace and not gold
I want a life that is not subject to the currency of this world
Deal with the passion of my heart and let it be for you alone
Do not let my heart get caught up with the desires of the flesh even in seeking for you.
Purge me of anything that will quench my thirst for you and you alone
I trust you O Lord for Daily Grace in Jesus name
