Building your personal relationship with God

having time with God

Do you have a personal relationship with God? are you building your personal relationship with God?

  • What is the Spirit of God saying to you today?
  • What is He telling you about your spiritual development…your family…and your finances?
  • If you’re facing trouble, what word of victory has He spoken to you?
  • As a born-again child of the living God, you ought to know the answers to those questions.

Christianity is unique among religions, for it alone offers a personal relationship with the Creator beginning here and now, and lasting throughout eternity. Jesus declared, “This is eternal life – that they may know God” (Jn. 17:3). Unfortunately, many in the Church miss the great blessing of fellowship with our Lord because we have lost the ability to recognize His voice. Though John 10:27 promises us that “My sheep hear my voice,” too many believers are starved for that intimate relationship that alone can satisfy the desire of their hearts.

One reason that you may have difficulty understanding God’s will is that you may not know how God speaks. If you do not know how God speaks, you will not be aware of when God is speaking to you. If you do not know how and when God is speaking to you, you will not hear His voice. When you do not hear God’s voice, you do not know what God is saying to you. It is only when you hear God speaking to you that you can know God and can understand His will. It is only when you know God and you understand His will that you can do His will. hence the need for Building your personal relationship with God

What you need to do to hear God voice

ALLOCATE TIME TO LISTEN is a key to Building your personal relationship with God

I’ve got to make time to hear Him. I’ve got to slow down, be quiet, and plan it in my schedule. We schedule everything else in life — vacations, dentist appointments, dates, and homework, everything else. Do you schedule time for God in your schedule? Or does God just get the leftovers.

The second reason a lot of people never hear God speak is we’re in too much in a hurry. We want to hear God speak, yes, but what we say is, “God, I’m in a hurry, so do it quick! I only have a minute!” As I’m running out the door to my next project or assignment or job I’m saying “OK God, speak to me, but do it right now!” As a result, we miss what God wants to say to us.

A lot of times we miss hearing God because our minds are crowded with other thoughts. Our minds are filled with concerns of daily living, worries, plans, goals, ambitions, bills, all these different kinds of things. When our mind is full and always thinking and never give God a chance in silence to talk to us, He can’t get through. one can even be reading a huge number of chapter from the Bible but may not hear God because his or her mind is crowded with several thought.

Who hear the word of God and retain it and by persevering produce a good crop.” Circle “retain”. They not only hear God’s word but they retain it. They write it down, they listen to it, and they think about it and go over it. The result is a productive life. Would you like to make your life count? Would like to have a productive, fulfilling, satisfying life? Then do what James 1:22 tells us, “Don’t merely listen to the Word and so deceive yourself. You kid yourself if you think you’re growing just by going to church. Do what it says”. take personal responsibility for Building your personal relationship with God

Finally as you desire to hear God speak to you, you need to determine in advance that you’re not going to bend The Word to fit your lifestyle. On the contrary, you’re going to bend your lifestyle to fit that Word. With that attitude, your spiritual ears will be open to hear whatever God has
